Are you currently expecting a child? For most women, pregnancy is a happy time, but the body goes through a lot of changes as it grows into a new tiny person! Pregnant women have altered postures, more pelvic floor stress, and ligament stretching and thickening. Urinary incontinence and difficulty activating the core muscles can result from newfound back pain, pelvic floor problems, and muscular weakness.

At Pro-X Physical Therapy, we use a combination of approaches such as massage therapy and pelvic floor treatment to make pregnancy and delivery as easy as possible. Our goal is to get your body ready for the journey ahead so you can focus on getting ready to welcome your new baby into the world.

Common Pain Problems Pre And Postnatal Rehab Can Help With

Some of the most common symptoms that expecting or new mother’s experience are:

  • Urinary or fecal incontinence

  • Inability to fully empty the bladder

  • Pain during sex

  • Dyspareunia

  • Prolapse, or the sensation that the organs are “dropping”

  • Constipation

Scarring from episiotomies and C-sections is fairly prevalent during pregnancy. This might cause constraints in the body’s myofascial system. When you try to move, you may have a limited range of motion as well as unpleasant feelings and discomfort.

Diastasis recti, often known as abdominal separation, can occur in certain women as well. Diastasis recti can prevent stomach muscle strengthening and result in what some refer to as a “pooch” after pregnancy.

To eliminate these restrictions and avoid further weakening of the myofascial system, our physical therapists employ unique myofascial and scar-release procedures.
